Course Overview
German A1 — Build Your Foundation
Start learning German from the ground up and develop the essential language skills you need for everyday communication. This level is designed for complete beginners and focuses on building a strong foundation in vocabulary, pronunciation, sentence structure and basic grammar.
You’ll learn how to introduce yourself, talk about your family, daily routine, interests and personal information, ask and answer simple questions, understand common everyday expressions, and manage basic situations such as shopping, ordering food, making appointments and asking for directions.
By the end of A1, you should be able to:
- Introduce yourself and have simple conversations about familiar topics
- Understand and use common everyday German expressions
- Ask and answer basic questions about yourself and your surroundings
- Read and understand short, simple texts and messages
- Write basic sentences, forms and short personal messages
- Communicate in familiar situations when the other person speaks clearly and at a manageable pace
End goal: Build enough German to handle basic everyday interactions independently and create a strong foundation for progressing to A2.
